Contractor Services
Are you considering a move in to Contracting?
Being a Contractor is very different from being employed. There are many more risks, but there are also a great many advantages. You can be deemed a contractor if you work for somebody else for a fixed period under a fixed contract to help them complete a project. You will effectively be selling your experience, skills and time, and will usually be paid by the day or hour.
What are the benefits for the Client?
There are several reasons why companies like to use Contractors:
- They are usually more flexible over hours etc. than permanent staff
- They are easier to hire and fire - and are not a long term commitment
- They provide skills the in-house team may not have
The other major reason companies like Contractors is that they save money. If a company employs you they have to pay sick pay, holiday pay, redundancy pay and employer's national insurance. But if they use you as a Contractor they don't have to pay any of this - so they can usually afford to pay you more per hour and still spend less money!
What are the benefits for the contractor?
Every Contractor has his or her own reasons for liking it. Some of the most common are:
- The opportunity to be your own boss
- The potential to earn significantly more money
- The freedom to choose when and where to work, and when to take holidays
- A greater amount of varied work and experience
- Reduce the amount of tax they pay.
